iRobot Looj 330 gutter cleaner review

Clogged rain gutters are probably not a known problems for those who live in an apartment building or in a family house without deciduous trees. But there are houses where this is a returning problem every single year, and this is not as rare as some might think. iRobot’s Looj 330 seems to be the perfect tool to aid this tiresome and sometimes dangerous task.

iRobot Looj is not a new product, it has been on the US market for years, but mainly due to different gutter sizes they could never conquer oversees gutters until now. The third generation of the Looj family (300 series, that only has one member for the time being) is somewhat smaller than the previous versions were, therefore it will be suitable to clean European, Asian and Australian gutters as well.

iRobot Looj 330 gutter cleaner

The iRobot Looj 330 is a robot that can crawl in the straight sections of gutters, while its rotating auger head lifts and sweeps the leaves, small branches and other debris out of the gutter. In normal cleaning mode the robot moves autonomously, but it can also be controlled manually if it is necessary. When cleaning is done, the robot can be driven back to the starting position, where the user can remove it from the gutter without the need to reposition of the ladder.

Although gutter cleaning is not a frequent task at most places, without the proper tool (or should I say robot) it is a tedious task. The ladder needs to be repositioned after each 2 meters (6 ft) section of gutter is cleaned, while reaching out to one meter on each sides can be dangerous on the top of a ladder. Robotic gutter cleaning solves all these problems because the robot can clean the entire length of a straight gutter section started from a single position.
