iRobot Braava 320 and Braava 380 floor cleaning robots

« Previous Next »

iRobot announced today that they will bring the Mint floor cleaners to Europe as Braava floor cleaning robots. The iRobot Braava 320 and the iRobot Braava 380 are the European siblings of the Mint (4200) and Mint Plus (5200) robots. I have reviewed the Braava 320 equivalent Mint in 2011, but my findings are still valid for the new iRobot Braava 320.

The iRobot Braava 320 is a systematic floor cleaner designed especially for hard floors (tiles, linoleum, laminate, wood, etc.) where it can operate as a wet and dry cleaner. In dry mode the robot dusts the floor in straight lines, while in wet mode the Braava will move in back and forth movements to scrub the surface with the wet microfiber cloth. The Braava 320 uses one navigation cube, hence it can cover one larger room when sweeping or a smaller one when mopping.

The Braava 380 is an enhanced version of the same robot that can handle more than one room in one session. It can roam from one navigation cube (or room) to the next one, while the liquid dispenser can keep the mopping cloth wet during the entire process. This allows the robot to cover even larger areas or more rooms at a time. The Braava 380 also comes with a turbo charging cradle that is capable of recharging the robot in just two hours.

Unfortunately the Braavas are priced a little above the original Mint. The Braava 320 and the Braava 380 will cost €229 and €299 respectively.

iRobot Launches Braava™ Floor Mopping Robot in Europe

New category for automatic floor cleaning complements company’s line of home robots

Budapest, April 15, 2013 – iRobot Corp. (NASDAQ: IRBT), a leader in delivering robotic technology-based solutions, today announced the release of the iRobot Braava Floor Mopping Robot. iRobot is introducing two models, Braava 320 and Braava 380, in Europe.

iRobot’s portfolio of home robots provide different solutions for different cleaning needs. While the company’s Roomba® Vacuum Cleaning Robot and Scooba® Floor Washing Robot make multiple passes over a floor to provide a deep clean, Braava is designed to systematically and efficiently mop the entire floor, dry or damp, in just one pass. Roomba vacuums, and Scooba scrubs floors clean. Braava is a perfect complementary solution for quickly maintaining hard floors every day, keeping them free of dust and other debris.

“Braava is a great complement to our already strong suite of home robots,” said Christian Cerda, senior vice president and general manager of the Home Robots business unit at iRobot. “The international expansion of our line of products reinforces our status as a worldwide leader in automated home maintenance.”

“We are excited to continue expanding our product line by bringing Braava to Hungary,” said Marc Dinee, vice president of sales and marketing for EMEA and APAC. “Given the different types of floors we see in our customers’ homes and individual cleaning preferences, we are glad to offer this new type of cleaning solution.”

Braava cleans hard floors hassle-free, quickly and quietly

The iRobot Braava Floor Mopping Robot automatically dry- and damp-mops hard floors using two cleaning modes, keeping dirt and dust under control. The robot is easy to use. At the push of a button, Braava is off to mop for you – and when it is done cleaning, the robot returns to where it started. Braava uses disposable or reusable cleaning cloths that are simple to attach and remove. It is whisper quiet, featuring a soft-touch bumper and quiet motors, so it cleans without disrupting daily activity or sleep.

All Braava robots:

  • Clean virtually all hard-surface floors, including hardwood, tile, vinyl and laminate
  • Mop with disposable or reusable microfiber cloths, dry or damp
  • Have two cleaning modes: Dry Mop mode sweeps back and forth in straight lines using dry cleaning cloths to efficiently pick up dust, dirt and hair. Damp Mop mode uses a special back-and-forth mopping action and damp cleaning cloths to lift surface dirt and grime off floors
  • Use NorthStar™ Navigation Cubes to map the room, ensuring a complete and effective clean
  • Avoid carpets, stairs and drop-offs

Braava 380 includes expanded features:

  • Pro-Clean System dispenses liquid throughout the cleaning cycle
  • Ability to use multiple NorthStar™ Navigation Cubes, or Cube-to-Cube Navigation, for larger homes
  • Fast-charging battery, so Braava 380 is ready to clean in four hours
  • Turbo Charge Cradle Accessory automatically recharges the robot in just two hours

The iRobot Braava Floor Mopping Robot will be available in Hungary in Q3. Braava 320 starts at a suggested retail price of €229.99, and Braava 380 starts at a suggested retail price of €299.99.
