The new Mirra 530 was also on display on iRobot's booth at CES. As I posted earlier, Mirra is the new pool cleaning robot line of iRobot that will be available internationally.

Although for the first glimps Mirra looks similar to previously available Verro robots, it is totally new. The goal of the designers was to create a robot that anyone can use. That includes both simple operation and small force that it requires to handle. The most important change was the placement of the debris canister. It used to be on the bottom of the robot, therefore the robot had to be flipped over for emptying and cleaning. Now the baskets are available on the top of the robot what makes maintenance a lot easier. The see-through covers allow the operator to easily check the state of the filters without the need to remove the baskets.

Pool cleaning robots are filled with water while inside the pool therefore they are heavy, and difficult to lift out of the water. Two rubber valves come to the operator's help letting the water out of the inner body immediately after Mirra is lifted out of the water.

There is no need to select programs or set pool sizes. Mirra's remote control only has a single Clean button to start the robot. The rest is figured out by the iAdapt Nautiq that measures the sizes of the pool and sets the right cleaning routine to achieve the desired result.

Mirra will be available this spring for $1,299 in the US and €1,499 in Europe, but I hope that European price will be reconsidered in time for summer.
