Neato firmware upgrade 3.1

Neato Corner Clean introduced in firmware 3.1

Neato has finally published its long awaited new software for the popular XV series of vacuum cleaning robots. The 3.1 version of the software brings the missing corner cleaning feature that is called "Corner Clever" by Neato. This allows the robot to go all the way into the corners and back up before turning, what allows the robot to clean the floor closer into the corners. Neato XV models with the new 3.1 firmware will clean both inside and outside corners differently than before.

Ecovacs Deebot D735 and Winbot 7

Ecovacs Winbot 7

Ecovacs came with two new robots to the International CES this year. One of them, the Winbot 7 was only new to the US market, I have already seen it demoed at IFA a few months ago. It is a window cleaner robot that only needs to be attached to one side of the glass pane, it stays there with the power of vacuum. Cleaning is done with a damped and a dry microfiber cloth, and the robot can handle frameless windows as well. Winbot 7 runs on electricity provided via a power cord. In case of a power outage it can stay on the window for approximately half an hour.

Modular Robotics

Modular Robotics Cubelets

When I launched RobotBG.com I decided not to post about robotic toys because I wanted to concentrate on robots that serve a purpose. For first glance the Cubelets of Modular Robotics are simple toys, but I can see them as great educational tools. Each of these plastic cubes house one single functionality of a robot: there is one that holds the battery, another one has a motor and wheels, while there are others with Bluetooth module or thermo sensor.

iRobot Mint Plus (5200)

iRobot Mint+

I was secretly hoping that iRobot will bring a new version of the Mint mopping robot to Vegas, but I only found the Mint Plus (also known as Mint 5200) at iRobot's booth. Evolution Robotics, the original developer of the Mint robot line was acquired by iRobot in September 2012, and I hoped that this event had sped of the development of the Mint lineup. I was wrong. Instead of a new model, iRobot has integrated the Mint Plus and Mint II into their product portfolio, and offers the same old models that served home owners since the end of 2011.

LG Hom-Bot Square arrived to the US

LG Hom-Bot Square

The news that LG brings the Hom-Bot Square to CES just arrived before the show. Although I have seen the robot in a private presentation at IFA in last September, I went to see it again.

Since IFA, the Hom-Bot Square went on sale in France and Italy, and those who know French (or likes to use Google translate) can already read a great review about it at Kelrobot.

iRobot Mirra 530 at CES

iRobot Mirra 530

The new Mirra 530 was also on display on iRobot's booth at CES. As I posted earlier, Mirra is the new pool cleaning robot line of iRobot that will be available internationally.

Samsung Smart Tango Corner Clean at CES

Samsung Navibot Corner Clean

As I have reported earlier, Samsung was preparing a new robotic vacuum cleaner, the Samsung Smart Tango Corner Clean (or Samsung Navibot Corner Clean as they might call it outside of South Korea) for CES 2012. Unfortunately Samsung decided not to release any official information about it beyond those few product images.

iRobot Looj 330 at CES

iRobot Looj 330

There is no need to risk our lives on the top of a ladder to clean the gutter any more because iRobot Looj 330 can clean them automatically. Looj is not a new product at all, it has bee in iRobot's portfolio for years, but it was often overlooked behind the Roomba and Scooba robots. Just before CES 2013 iRobot has announced the newest version of the series, adding that the downsized robot will be available internationally. The robot is 6 mm (1/4 in) slimmer and narrower than it's predecessors what makes it suitable for gutters in use in Europe as well.

Solar-Breeze pool skimming robot

Solar-Breeze 3rd generation

Although Solar Pool Technologies, Inc is not among the exhibitors of the now opening CES but they have scheduled the announcement of the 3rd generation Solar-Breeze robot for this very busy and important day. The new robot brings improvement on operation time and on the longevity of the product. The robot was changed in six eight areas, the two most important are the following:

LG Hom-Bot Square at CES

LG Hom-Bot Square

LG at CES has announced today the same Hom-Bot Square model I have seen and tried at IFA in Berlin in last September. The new square like shape provides better positioning of the side brushes making the cleaning of corners a lot easier and more efficient. The Hom-Bot Square has got a new top mounted camera that performs much better in low light situations than earlier LG robots.
