Ecovacs has expanded its product portfolio with yet another home robot. Ecovacs Famibot is a home security and home automation robot that can keep an eye on the house while we are away and it is able to transmit live video with sound to any network connected smart phone. The robot itself and other household appliances like air conditioners or lights can be controlled remotely through the internet. Famibot also doubles as a security guard. Its sensors can detect burglary or smoke in the house and can alert the owner of the unexpected situation instantly.

The robot can function as an internet connected entertainment device that reads news, plays music and tells the weather on request. For elderly people who don't want to use a smartphone to control the device, a regular remote control is also available. The Famibot S586 also work as an air purifier that cleans the air of the home.

Remote controlling, carbon-monoxide detection and burglary detection (motion detection) is done by using separate controlling devices attached to wall mounted power outlets. These connect to the robot with RF signals so the robot does not have to be in sight to be able to get the signals and alert the home owner of the hazard.

The robot will first be available on the Chinese market, but after localization it can go on sale in other markets as well.
