Ecovacs booth at CES 2012

Ecovacs, launched in year 2000, is a subidiary of TEK Electronic Co., Ltd. specialized on making robotic cleaning solutions. After iRobot, Ecovacs has the largest selection of cleaning robots. They currently provide two air purifier, two window cleaner and 5 vacuum cleaner robots. They had most of these on display at CES 2012.

XYBotYX - The iPhone Robot

XYBot 1 at CES 2012

Nearly 6 month ago, David Shafter and Daniel McShan teamed up to use their expertise to create the a robot that utilizes the sensors, cameras and computing power of iPhones. Their first product is the XYBot 1.

Hanool Ottoro S200

Hanool booth at CES 2012

Hanool, a small South Korean manufacturer of robotic vacuum cleaners has introduced its latest vacuum cleaner robot the Ottoro S200 at CES 2012. The Ottoro S200 is a randomly moving vacuum cleaner that uses a special patented technique to filter the air. The S200 has a round air inlet instead of the brush bar on the bottom, and the filtered air is blown back near that air inlet. This system is called Wind Recycling System, and it doubles the suction power of the vacuum motor.

Agait E-Clean EC02A and EC03

Agait booth at CES 2012

Agait has had a fairly big booth at the middle of the South Hall this year, and they had not one, but two new robots to demonstrate there. The EC02A seems to be the same as the EC02, only with a newly designed outer shell.

Moneual Rydis R720

Moneual booth at CES 2012

Moneaual, the well known HTPC manufacturer has demoed three of its current robotic vacuum cleaners at CES this year. The Rydis R750 and R740 models were introduced a year ago, while the R720 was first shown to the public during IFA in last September. All three of these robots use a fourth generation LiFePo4 (lithium iron phosphate) battery that is rechargeable over 1000 times, and brushless DC motors for better energy efficiency.

Xrobot

If you buy a cheap, very simple robot from a brand without history in robotics, there is a chance that you are getting a robot designed and manufactured by Shenzen Silver Star Intelligent Electronics Ltd. This company is one of the largest OEM provider of these simple robots, probably because they have a large selection of different designs for basically the same hardware.

Agama from Genius

Agama booth at CES 2012

Genius is mostly known from its computer accessories, but they produce some simple vacuum cleaning robots as well under the Agama brand name. Since they had a small booth in the South hall of the CES this year I went to see what the are up to.
I walked around the booth that had a meeting area in the middle, but I could not see a single robot there. After asking for the robots they got an old model out from one of the storage spaces, but that's all they had.

LG Hom-bot 2.0 demo at CES 2012

LG's booth at CES 2012

LG Hom-Bot is nothing new, we have heard about it several times before. But not until now I could try it out for myself. Robots had two demo areas at the LG booth. At one of these sites the LG LrV5900 and a Hom-bot 2.0 was running in shifts, but somehow the latter one didn't really act like a smart robot. Probably the smaller than normal area and higher ceilings have confused it. Unfortunately the LG people standing around were not as knowledgeable about it as I expected. Not much from this site there was another setup with a bit larger area for the robot and an Android phone on the side.

Windoro window cleaning robot

Windoro booth at CES 2012

Ilshim Global Co., Ltd., the maker of the original window cleaning robot Windoro, was demonstrating its window cleaning robot just a few blocks from Yujin. The two part robot was cleaning the window of the booth tirelessly and it sure has stopped bypassing people. This model was the same that were on display in IFA last year, but Ilshim is working on a new model that I was invited to check out.

Samsung Navibot S series

Samsung Navibot S SR8950

Samsung wasn't putting an emphasis on their robotic vacuum cleaner lineup at CES 2012. They have had a small block with one demo unit and a few other on display. None of them were any new, they were the same models that were introduced at IFA in Berlin last year.
