Samsung Navibot-S at IFA 2011

Samsung Navibot-S

Our friends at Geeks.hu have been kind enough to share some of their images of the new Samsung Navibot-S with us. They have found the robot in the Samsung booth at IFA 2011 this weekend. I have reported about the unannounced Samsung Navibot S a few days ago, but I only had a few sterile product photos to show. Meanwhile a few more tidbits were found out about the robot by the Geeks.hu guys.

The Samsung Navibot S seems to empty its dust bin the same way as the original Kärcher RC3000 did. It has a 2 liter bag less dust bin in the docking station that can significantly prolong the time the robot can work unattended. The cleaning takes about 15 seconds.

The other new information is that it seems to have another built in camera besides the one facing the ceiling. It works the same way as in the LG Hom-Bot, so the live image can be viewed from a smart phone. The communication between the robot and the phone is duplex, therefore the user is able to control the robot from the phone itself while viewing the live video.

The robot will be sold with a regular docking station as well for those who don't care about self empty dust bin. For more details see my original post about the Navibot S with the press release.

Below the video you can see a few interesting photos about how the height of Samsung robots have decreased over time since the original robotic vacuum cleaner in 2004 (from 17.5 cm to 8 cm).
