LG Roboking VR6180VMNC the Triple Eye robot

The idea of surveillance robots is nothing new, and even LG has demonstrated such robots in the past. But most of those robots had no release dates and expected street prices. LG's new Triple Eye robot, the LG Roboking VR6180VMNC has both of those, and a few other interesting features.

The robot itself is another iteration of ultra quiet the VR61xx that sports ultrasonic sensors, gyroscopes, acceleration sensors and two cameras (one facing to the ceiling, another one monitoring movements on the bottom of the robot) to map the floor area and provide methodical cleaning abilities. LG has extended these features with an extra camera showing the area ahead of the robot, a wi-fi connection to transmit the live video from that camera to a smart phone and a voice recognition system to allow the user to control the robot without a touch of a button.

The wi-fi connection and the live video broadcast by the robot allows the owner to remotely drive the robot around the house, and see on the phone's screen what the pets or an uninvited visitor is doing in the house.

With voice recognition the user can stop, send to recharge or schedule the Roboking Triple Eye with simple commands standing 1.5 m from the robot.

The new smart diagnostic feature, announced in the latest Roboking models about a month ago, has also made it to the Triple Eye. It helps the user to solve minor problems, while providing extra information to both user and support team when other problems arise.

LG Roboking VR6180VMNC will be showcased in Berlin from September 2 to 7 during IFA 2011. The Robking Triple eye will initially be sold in South Korea from September this year, and will cost a mere 899,000 won (~$850).

The manual will certainly be in Korean, but it will most probably work because it uses standard technology.

The Korean manual says I have to register
u+box
and
mom's view service.
is there another way to use the remote feature?

The android app shows not up in the german app store,
the korean apps for u+box and mom's view can be downloaded.

Sorry, I don't have more information about this.
