MSI sells robot under Funrobot iCleaner name

Funrobot iCleaner M800

MSI has decided to re-brand their domestic robot product line. The robots announced in June 2010 at Computex are now sold as Funrobot iCleaner robots. So far two of the three robots on display at the show have made it to production. The ultra slim Funrobot iCleaner R500 is only 5 cm high, and designed to clean one room at a time. It has no scheduling option and does not have docking station either. The Funrobot iCleaner M800 is a bit more advanced with 6 ultrasonic range finders and a docking station. The ultrasonic distance sensors precent the robot to bump into obstacles more than 90% of the times. The robot can be preprogrammed to run at the desired schedule. Neither of these robots have a brush roller on the bottom, they clean solely by air suction what is - according to the press release - at the case of the M800 model 3× as strong as the suction of most robotic vacuum cleaners.

The robots will soon be available, but no word on pricing yet. Distribution is planned in Asia, Europe and America.

Taipei—Robot vacuum cleaners currently available on the market either don’t have the smarts or the suction power needed to do a good job and truly serve as a labor-saving device for today’s individual on-the-go. At the 108th Session of the China Import and Export Fair, FUNROBOT displayed two robot vacuum cleaners to meet the needs of different consumers—the super-smart iCleaner M800 with extra powerful suction and the super-simple, super-slim iCleaner R500.

The iCleaner M800 features an ultrasonic sensor, which keeps it from bumping into objects more than 90% of the time, as well as more than three times the suction of other similar products, and full-angle double brushes for those hard-to-get-to corners. The stylishly super-slim iCleaner R500 also comes equipped with full-angle double brushes and is only 5 cm tall to get under tight spots.

Ultrasonic collision prevention protects furniture
Backed by years of experience in robotics R&D as well as superior mechatronics and electronic circuitry capabilities, MSI has developed the iCleaner M800—its first generation smart cleaning robot.

Six highly sensitive ultrasonic sensors constantly scan the iCleaner M800’s surroundings while it’s cleaning. When it encounters an obstacle, like a wall or table leg, the iCleaner M800 decelerates, brakes, and takes evasive action. It does a great job of cleaning every nook and cranny around objects without actually touching them. Most traditional robot sweepers detect objects by running into them, often leaving black scuff marks and sometimes even moving them around or damaging them. The iCleaner M800’s ultrasonic collision prevention solves this headache for consumers.

In addition, the iCleaner M800 emits ultrasonic sound at wavelengths in excess of 40,000 Hz (humans can hear up to 20,000 Hz). Scientific and clinical studies show that ultrasonic sound at these wavelengths effectively inhibits the growth of mites without adversely affecting humans. Ultrasonic sound is widely used in hospitals, for example, to examine unborn babies.

Extra clean floors
Robot vacuum cleaners currently on the market don’t do a good job, because they lack the necessary power. The iCleaner M800 provides 10 HPA of suction—three times more than most robot vacuum cleaners currently on the market. Furthermore, the iCleaner M800 is equipped with brushes on either side to get at dirt in corners. You’ll also notice a huge decrease in those irritating bumping sounds, so man and machine can “coexist more peacefully.” Also worth mentioning is the fact that the structure of the iCleaner M800 is designed in such a way as to effectively prevent hair tangling up inside, greatly reducing the amount of time and energy needed to clean it and making it the ideal choice for pet owners.

Trouble-free travel
Underneath the iCleaner M800’s hood is a motor with artificial intelligence and ultrasonic sensors which keep continuous track of the robot’s surroundings. In much the same way that submarines utilize sonar, the iCleaner M800 uses ultrasonic sound waves to avoid collisions with furniture. It also plans routes and strategies to optimize cleaning and to keep it from getting trapped.

Automatic docking and recharging
The iCleaner M800 also docks and recharges itself. When it’s low on power, it automatically returns to its docking port. It also comes with a high-capacity lithium-ion battery that is fully recharged and ready to go again in just two hours. You can preprogram cleaning times, too. Leave your floor to the iCleaner M800.

Anti-tangling, anti-fall, suited to any floor surface
The special materials out of which the iCleaner M800’s wheels are constructed as well as their shock absorbing design allow the iCleaner M800 to climb to heights of 15mm, allowing it to easily crawl over floors, carpets, electrical cables, and the like without damaging even wooden floors. Internal elevation sensors prevent tumbles, so you can leave the iCleaner M800 to clean up while you’re away.

The iCleaner R500 is ideal for homes that need a robot vacuum cleaner that won’t get stuck beneath furniture. At only 5 cm in height, it can slip under furniture, including beds, sofas, and cabinets, without getting wedged in. As long as there is at least 5 cm of clearance (apx. the height of an AA battery), the iCleaner R500 can slip under furniture and back out again with ease.
