Mint receives Popular Mechanics' Editor's choice award

Mint, the recently announced floor cleaning robot has won Popular Mechanics' Editor's Choice award for best new product at CES 2010. According the the issued press release Popular Mechanics picked the Mint from thousands of innovative products as the one they think will make a difference this year. As we reported a few days ago, Mint is a floor cleaning robot specially designed for hard surface floors. It cleans with wet or dry cloth, and covers the area systematically.

Evolution Robotics has today announced Mint, a revolutionary floor cleaning robot that will clean hard surface floors like no robot did before. Unlike previously available Scooba robots (that distributed and than collected liquid) Mint uses wet or dry cloths to mop the floor. This wouldn't be so revolutionary though. The great part is that Mint uses Evolution Robotics' award winning NorthStar Technology to track its position in the room. This allows the robot to map the room, plan the optimal route and clean the room in a systematic manner.

iRobot sells over five million units

iRobot today has announvced that they have sold over five million home robots since the launching of the Roomba line in 2002. Over the years the Roomba not only become the market leader, but provided the inspiration to many latecomers in the industry. Roombas have learned a lot during this 8 years, and the current models, belonging to the third generation can successfully solve everyday troubles of a vacuum cleaning robot.
