Neato Robotics announces XV-11 robot vacuum cleaner

Neato Robotics, a Silicon Valley startup announced today their first commercial household robot, the Neato XV-11. The new robot is aimed to be a direct competitor of iRobot's popular Roomba series with several technological improvements. The Neato XV-11 is the first robotic vacuum cleaner utilizing Neato's proprietary Room Positioning System that uses laser vision to map rooms for better cleaning. The new navigation system allows the robot to clean the area faster, leaving more energy for stronger cleaning abilities.

LG announces Roboking VR5901KL vacuum cleaner

LG Electronics has today announced the world's first dual-camera robotic vacuum cleaner, the Roboking VR5901KL. The new vacuum cleaner is the member of the 5th generation of Roboking robots, and with the 50 dB noise level it is the most quiet vacuum cleaning robot to date. One of the two cameras on the robot is monitoring the ceiling and the upper parts of the wall, while the other other on the bottom is registering every movement on the floor.

iRobot appoints new president for healthcare division

According to a press release, issued today, iRobot is entering the exploding health care business. iRobot's chairman and CEO Colin Angle will talk about their plans at TEDMED, and will introduce the president of the new health care business unit, Tod Loofbourrow. iRobot's practical robots in the future can help care givers and senior citizens with some of their daily chores. This could not only lower the cost of care, but could extend the period while elderly people can live an independent life.

Husqvarna adds texting to Automowers

Husqvarna has announced today that it will add texting capability to its industry grade robotic lawn mower that Automower 260ACX. Contractors can now leave the the robots on lawn of company campuses or residential parks, the robots will let them know if they need assistance. The Automower 260ACX is capable of handling 1.5 acres of lawn, making it suitable for the maintenance of large public areas. The robotic lawn mowers are also equipped with GPS tracker, that provides help for easier location of stolen units.

Husqvarna sells over 100,000 Automowers

Husqvarna has passed the 100,000 mark in the sales of it's robotic lawn mower business. Automower lawn mowers are in production since 1995, and become one of the most popular brand in this field. The current lineup contain five mowers that provide help to anyone from private lawn owners to professional gardeners. It took 14 years to sell the first 100,000 units, but seeing the ever increasing demand for these robots, be can be sure that we won't have to wait long to pass the next milestone.

iRobot announces 2nd gen Looj gutter cleaner robot

Cleaning the gutters around the roof is one of those unpleasant chores that probably every house owner hates. iRobot has had a solution to the job for a year now but today they have announced the second generation of the only commercially available gutter cleaning robot, the Looj. The new Looj sports a built in antenna and an anti-flipping auger, while the battery door can be opened without any tool. iRobot Looj cleans the gutters from leaves, dirt, debris and water, while the operator needs to climb the leader only once.

Husqvarna Automower 210C is launched at CES

Husqvarna has announced its latest addition it the popular Automower robotic lawn mower lineup. The Automower 210C is the smallest of the current lineup, providing help to home owners with relatively small lawn area. The 210C can maintain the grass up to 500 m² (1/8 acre) and operates without the need for a docking station. After mowing, the Automower 210C can be charged and stored away from the lawn. The lawn mower robot will be available from March 2009 at an estimated street price of $1299.
